Thimphu Tshechu

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide and driven to Thimphu. Enjoy the scenic drive through beautiful mountain landscapes and pine forests. After check-in, take a gentle stroll through the capital city and get acquainted with its peaceful atmosphere, traditional buildings, and local markets.

Begin your day at Buddha Dordenma, an immense golden statue overlooking the city. Visit the Folk Heritage Museum for a glimpse into rural Bhutanese life and continue to the National Institute for Zorig Chusum to observe students learning traditional arts. Explore the Memorial Chorten and browse handicraft shops in the evening.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant Thimphu Tshechu, held in the courtyard of Tashichho Dzong. Watch a series of masked dances performed by monks and laymen, believed to purify and protect the community. Locals gather in traditional attire, making it a lively and photogenic experience.

Continue enjoying the Tshechu festivities and take time to explore more of Thimphu. Visit Simtokha Dzong, one of the oldest fortresses in Bhutan, and enjoy panoramic views from Sangaygang Viewpoint. Discover local flavors at the weekend market and sample Bhutanese delicacies.

Travel to Punakha via the stunning Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where you can stop to admire 108 chortens and sweeping Himalayan views. Upon reaching Punakha, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers. Later, take a short walk through rice paddies to the fertility temple, Chimi Lhakhang.

Drive back to Paro, stopping at Tachogang Lhakhang and its iron suspension bridge along the way. In Paro, explore Rinpung Dzong and visit the National Museum, which houses rich collections of Bhutanese artifacts. Enjoy leisure time in Paro town in the evening.

Embark on a rewarding hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), one of Bhutan’s most iconic sites. Clinging to a cliff 900 meters above the valley, it offers spiritual significance and breathtaking views. After descending and relaxing, you’ll be transferred to Paro Airport for your departure.
