Owl Trek

Arrive at Paro International Airport and receive a traditional Bhutanese welcome. Depending on your arrival time, visit Paro Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum. Later, check in to your hotel and rest. Overnight in Paro.

Drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city, through lush valleys. En route, visit Tachog Lhakhang. In Thimphu, explore Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten, and Tashichho Dzong. Enjoy some leisure time in the evening to explore the local markets or relax. Overnight in Thimphu.

Drive over the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100 m), stopping to admire panoramic views of the Himalayas. Descend into the subtropical Punakha Valley to visit Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple) and the architecturally impressive Punakha Dzong. Overnight in Punakha.

Begin a long but beautiful drive through central Bhutan, crossing Pele La Pass and passing picturesque villages. Stop at Trongsa to visit Trongsa Dzong, one of the largest in the country. Continue to Jakar in Bumthang and check in to your guesthouse. Overnight in Bumthang.

Explore the cultural heartland of Bhutan. Visit the spiritual sites of Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, and Tamshing Goemba. Learn about the region’s religious significance while enjoying the valley’s serene ambiance. Prepare for the trek beginning the next day. Overnight in Bumthang.

Begin the Owl Trek from Menchugang (approx. 2,800 m). Hike through dense forests of spruce, hemlock, and blue pine while spotting birdlife along the trail. After a steady 4–5 hour ascent, reach Thovegang campsite at around 3,200 meters. Camp overnight.

Continue trekking through forested paths and rhododendron groves. Cross the Drangela Pass (3,600 m) and enjoy sweeping views of the Himalayas. Arrive at Kitiphu (approx. 3,870 m), the highest point of the trek. Weather permitting, see distant peaks like Gangkar Puensum. Camp overnight.

Descend gradually through thick forests and traditional farmlands, returning to the valley floor near Jakar. The 4–5 hour trek concludes the Owl Trek. Celebrate your achievement with a warm shower and local dinner. Overnight in Bumthang.

Retrace your journey westward, passing through Trongsa and Pele La. Stop for photos or lunch en route. Arrive in Punakha by evening and relax in the peaceful riverside surroundings. Overnight in Punakha.

Drive back to Paro via Dochula Pass. You can stop again for mountain views or enjoy a brief nature walk on the way. Upon reaching Paro, explore the town’s handicraft shops or enjoy traditional hot stone bath (optional). Overnight in Paro.

Undertake the iconic hike to Taktsang Monastery, perched 900 meters above the Paro Valley. The round-trip hike takes 4–5 hours and is one of the most rewarding spiritual experiences in Bhutan. After returning, rest or enjoy a cultural performance. Overnight in Paro.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. Your journey through the wild, spiritual, and cultural heart of Bhutan comes to a close.
